Who Are We?
The primary purpose of SCA is to coordinate and focus all available resources upon the needs of low-income Schuylkill County Residents enabling them to obtain adequate, affordable housing and secure the opportunities necessary to achieve self-sufficiency. Schuylkill Community Action (SCA) provides a variety of programs intent on improving economic, social and housing conditions of the low-income local community. SCA utilizes an outcome based, results oriented approach for all programs administered within the agency. Services include home weatherization, utility assistance, affordable housing development, which includes the management of twenty-one (21) rent restricted apartments, housing rehabilitation, housing counseling, operation of a transitional housing facility for homeless persons, employment training and placement, emergency services and food distribution. These services are part of an overall strategy geared to alleviate short-term crises for low-income families, while promoting long-term self-sufficiency. SCA is currently the primary organization addressing the needs of low-income residents of Schuylkill County.

•Schuylkill Food Network- monetary support would help offset food purchase cost, food delivery costs, and costs associated with the procurement and refrigeration of donated fresh and frozen foods.
•Brighter Holiday Campaign- The Brighter Holiday Campaign is a staff driven Holiday giving program for needy Schuylkill County families. The campaign is led by agency staff, who solicit donations from local businesses and community members, and make program referrals to the neediest SCA clients. The program provides gifts, clothing, and a Holiday meal to these families.
•Emergency Fund- SCA is able to address small emergency needs of our clients. The emergency fund is made possible through donations from community members and organizations, as well as dress down money collected from SCA staff. Funding is typically provided to purchase Birth Certificates, Photo Id’s, and work attire.
